And all along, culture ignorat as I am, I had thought you were signing your works 'Manjula'!

You're no cultur-minus-wallah, Paul -- I've NEVER signed as "Magnolia" before!! In fact, you're the first person to remark upon the difference ...

its true that when i saw the first piece with magnolia signed (quite similar in fluorish to manjula) i ignored it because i wasn't sure whether i had mistakenly assumed that ms mp. was on & on as usual & it was decades of alzheimer starting to take its toll (i'm talking me here). so it was good of paul to query. i'm presuming its ms mp's new skin for cyberspace - though i s'ppose we cud/ shud ask her huh? thus --- asking...??? care 2 enlie10 us ma'm? gt

Confusion is my middle name -- (some people are called Confucius and others are called ... )!

Okay, so here's the story: of the several alternative online identities I've had, "magnolia" just happens to have stuck. A few of my friends (and both my sisters) actually call me "Mag" rather than the variations on "Manjula". And there's a longer association to do with ... my eldest sister nicknaming me Lady Magnolia when I was in college ... and a surprise association with a great aunt who was a botanist yaddayaddayadda (I blogged about this some time ago, but am feeling too lazy to dig up the link. It's somewhere here but pre-dates the link-widget) -- and anyway, what it all comes down to is ... YES! I plan to use Magnolia in connection with SOME online stuff. As of now, only this rather bad-tempered lady, Ms Malcontent.

A hint: she's interactive. If you ask her questions, she'll answer. Did I mention her bad temper? So ... watch out!
